FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)
- No, we don't provide MS Office inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). All we provide is a DD VM and a Training room
- The Trainer(s) should prepare a free-trial account of MS Office for all delegates
- Otherwise they should use their own account for MS Office
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we've introduced an easy way to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. The only small limitation is that currently you can only transfer one file at a time. But it's easy to zip or archive all the files you need into a single file and then copy that over to your DaDesktop machine.
- If you're using a cloud storage system, be sure to log out before cloning to all delegates
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you're using the Chrome browser, head to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off Hardware acceleration
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, https://hr.nobleprog.com/homepage?tab=reg from the Terms and Conditions, states that a trainer cannot access the wiki
- If you want to send something to edit on the NobleProg wiki, just copy & paste and email it to the trainer (a PDF is also fine)
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Please whitelist the following domains:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
If you have any other questions, please get in touch with DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?
- The Trainer(s) can first set up and configure DD (RAM, CPUs and Disk)
- Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to set up multiple virtual machines and configure networking between them
- Once everything is set up, you can clone to delegates in seconds
- If you need a hand, just reach out to DaDesktop Support
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware
- For example: 512GB RAM can be used as 512GB *3
- Maximum disk per server is 250GB, 16 CPU threads per desktop, and RAM configurations can be customised.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, recordings can now be downloaded via the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
- The video includes voice recording if you use the training room's audio
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly
- Other browsers like IE are not fully supported
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- Check your network connection; DaDesktop relies on your local connection speed
- Check your server location. When the coordinator sets up the desktop, they'll always pick a server close to participants
- Turn off your VPN, or set it to PAC mode. Also, disable any security applications, especially those that interfere with WebSockets, which are required for smooth DaDesktop operation.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Accessing Remote Desktop depends on Websocket
- This could be your device blocking it. Check settings or configurations that could block WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, in proxy settings, if the "Use the same proxy for all protocols" option is ticked, WebSocket won't work (because it sets a proxy for the SOCKS host). Untick it and set the SOCKS host field to blank. This should fix it.
- It could also be the network, not your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator or have them unblock WebSocket.
12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?
- Check out the GPU page for details about GPU support
13. Is there any potential issues or answers?
- Generally, using DaDesktop is just like using any normal Windows or Linux machine, but you might encounter a few small issues when using some software applications in a training environment, particularly with cloning.
14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we don't support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mostly because of licensing issues that frequently crop up.
