GPU Reservations

Training Coordinators can secure guaranteed GPU resources for specific courses by establishing GPU reservations. This ensures these courses receive top priority for requested GPU compute hardware, guaranteeing that the necessary infrastructure is available to support training sessions and labs effectively.

 

Follow the procedure below to establish a GPU reservation for a course:

Navigate to the Desktops tab on the course page and select the blue button situated beneath the Video conference button, which is labelled "Reserve GPU".

 

A dialog will then appear to gather the necessary details for your GPU request.

The first field concerns location, with the default setting configured to "Anywhere".

If you are aware of the city closest to your participants, you can specify this manually by selecting "Within distance from city".

Alternatively, if you prefer a broader geographical coverage, choose "Others...".

Once you are content with the selected location, click "Continue" to proceed to the "Per desktop" section, where you can define your machine specifications.

In this section, detail the resources required per machine to receive an accurate estimate of the projected resource costs.

** Please ensure your entries are precise, as this will improve the accuracy of the cost estimate and assist course administrators in sourcing resources if specific regions are depleted.

 

If the details entered are correct, click Continue to advance to the GPU requirements section.

It is recommended to consult with the trainer at this stage to determine the exact requirements for the course. Trainers are typically well-informed regarding the specific GPU Vendor and Model needed to deliver their content. If neither you nor the trainer are certain, please select "ANY".

Currently, we provide two Vendor options: AMD & Nvidia.

Regarding models, we display our current catalogue of available units. If you are uncertain about the trainer's specific needs, select "ANY".

 

Once you are satisfied with all reservation details, click "Place reservation". This action will allocate the necessary funds, activate the reservation, and display its active status on the course page, as demonstrated below:

 

If you receive updated information regarding the required GPUs for the course and need to modify your existing reservation, please contact DD support for assistance with editing your GPU reservation request.
